B55 Contemporary Gallery, Budapest

05/15/2012

The new double exhibition of B55 Gallery presents two artists with Asian roots. Both the Japanese Fukui Yusuke and the Armenian Mamikon Yengibarian own an outlook that stems from an Eastern culture and blends in West European contemporary trends. A harmonious, effortless play of lines serves as the starting point for the formal experiments which Fukui carries out on paper, and Yengibarian in space. Despite its abstraction, Fukui Yusuke’s world is not unrelated to Mamikon Yengibarian’s works, which give prominence to figurativeness: both artists represent relationships and their systems. Their works abound in elements, now concrete, now abstract, whose organic quality is accentuated by their palette, the absence of flamboyant, strong tones. As with the previous exhibits of this series, the gallery highlights the parallels between the approaches of two artists who work in different media.
